Christmas Gig 13th December!

Hey folks!

On Wednesday, December 13th, Patrick Freyne and his Bad Intentions play a special Christmas gig at Crawdaddy. Support on the night will come from the amazing Miriam Ingram and the fantastic Crayonsmith.

Looking forward to seeing you all there, should be an excellent night!

Here's where you can find out some more about Miriam Ingram and Crayonsmith:

Doors 8pm Adm 10e

Also: Here's some of the nice praise we've been getting for the album! Thanks to everybody who's bought it so far. If you haven't got it, it should be available in your local record shop right now, and if they don't have it, they'll be able to order it for you! We'll also be selling the CD online pretty soon, so watch this space.

Anyway...here's the praise:

"Freyne's gravely voice was born for mournful country songs… Patrick Freyne and His Bad Intentions are endearingly ramshackle with their electronic beats and esoteric collection of instruments and absolutely charming to listen to." Bandwagon.ie

"a really lovely record. Sinister and sweet all at once," Rennie Sparks from the Handsome Family (yah!)

"a roughly hewn gem, a record of small but crucial pleasures - adrift in the stew of surrounding commercial dross but so comfortable within its own skin that it's positively life affirming." The Irish Times

"The playing is subtle yet resonant, the subject matter weighty yet often humourous. No mean feat." The Sunday Tribune

"it's my kind of record," Alison Curtis Today FM.

Album Update and Patrick solo tour

Album Update
Good news everyone! as professor farnsworth says...

The album is at last mastered, kudos (damn myspace lingo) to Liam Grant for the excellent job.

Myself and Patrick are currently emailing each other artwork, as we race to get everything together in time for our pressing deadline.

Also, Les has remixed Digging Holes - listen to it live (?) on myspace...

Patrick solo Tour
Patrick's doing a 3 gig solo tour this august supporting Jeff Lewis (also playing solo).

Dates are as follows:
Aug 21 2006 Roisin Dubh, Galway
Aug 22 2006 Princes St. Unitarian Hall, Cork
Aug 23 2006 Crawdaddy, Dublin

Jeff Lewis is a really cool guy who we played with in Crawdaddy earlier this year. Apart from being a genuinely very nice guy, he also plays excellent songs with excellent, often hilarious lyrics, projects short cartoon films. He also makes and sells his own comics.

Gigs

Hey folks,
We're playing at the Sugar Club on Wednesday 31st May supporting Stuart A Staples of Tindersticks fame...

We're also playing in the Hub (underneath the Mezz in Temple Bar, pretty much opposite the I.F.I.) on Thursday June 8th. This gig is a benefit concert for Arthur Lee of the band Love, who is ill with leukamia at the moment. He doesn't have any health insurance (rock and roll!) so this is one of many gigs being held across the U.S. and Europe in order to raise money for his medical treatment. Other acts lending their support on the night include The Dudley Corporation, Jape, and the Mighty Stef.

Gigs with Willard Grant Conspiracy and other stuff

Hi folks

Patrick Freyne and his Bad Intentions are supporting the excellent Willard Grant Conspiracy in Crawdaddy on the 28th of April and in the Spirit Store in Dundalk on the 1st of May.

There’s also an interview with me about my film “The Boy Who Was Dubbed” here: http://darklightfestival.blogspot.com/ and I put a video I made for my old band the NPB up on www.myspace.com/patrickfreyneandhisbadintentions

So yet again thanks to the Music and Media Technology Course in Trinity. A year later and I’m still coasting on the projects I made.
